High intakes of healthy fats — especially saturated fats — boost health and longevity. Those who got 35 percent of daily calories from healthy fats were 23 percent less likely to die during the seven-year follow-up than those who only got 10 percent of calories from fat
People who got 77 percent of daily calories from carbohydrates were 28 percent more likely to die during the study than those who got 46 percent of calories from carbs
Other recent research shows a reduced-sugar diet can lower liver fat by more than 20 percent in just nine days
Soaking helps to get rid of phytic acid and neutralizing enzyme inhibitors enabling easy digestion and elevating absorption of vitamins and other nutrients in the nuts. The peels are more easily removable, once you soak nuts in hot water. Adding a little salt while soaking will help neutralize the enzymes. It also helps remove dust residue and tannins. The water residue from the soaked nuts must not be re-used for cooking as they might contain harmful substances.
Just like grains, nuts contain phytic acid which is part of their defense mechanism to avoid predators so that they can grow to their full maturity. Often, you may find some bits of nuts in your stools because phytic acid works against easy digestion of the nuts. Soaking helps to get rid of phytic acid and neutralizing enzyme inhibitors enabling easy digestion and elevating absorption of vitamins and other nutrients in the nuts. Continue reading →
Most people, however, have no awareness at all that commercial wheat products are saturated with glyphosate before harvest. They think glyphosate is only used on genetically modified crops like corn and soybeans. But it turns out that glyphosate is routinely used as a wheat crop drying chemical to speed up harvesting. (Monitor breaking news headlines on glyphosate in real time at Glyphosate.news, part of the new FETCH.news network.) Continue reading →
Grocery store shelves to be stripped bare… supermarkets raided… home gardens now the new ‘secret weapon’ against starvation.
(NaturalNews) Over the years, I’ve consistently and repeatedly urged people to grow their own food, and I’ve explained over and over again why you need a home-grown self-reliant food supply when the food collapse arrives.
That moment has now arrived for the citizens of Greece. With cash disappearing, grocery store shelves are on the verge of being stripped bare across the country, and some citizens are beginning to raid grocery stores in desperately thefts to acquire enough food to prevent their own starvation. NaturalNews) The mainstream media can’t figure out why it keeps losing readers and viewers. Maybe it’s because they keep calling health-conscious consumers “whackos” and “kooks.” In their latest example of alienating readers, mainstream media outlets like USA Today, Washington Post, Forbes.com and the New York Times have resorted to condemning all health-conscious consumers as nut jobs and kooks and conspiracy theorists… all because they want to avoid fluoride, pesticides, toxic heavy metals or GMOs. Three problems with the US food supply that is making food a source of disease rather than optimal health include: the way our food is raised; the way it’s processed; and the routine use of hazardous drugs and chemicals.
The United States is one of the few countries in the world that produces and processes food in a way that defies both science and common sense.
As noted in the featured TED lecture, 86 percent of every dollar you spend at the grocery store goes toward paying for processing and marketing of the food. A mere 14 percent goes to the farmer that actually grows the food ingredients in question.
This alone should tell you that that inexpensive processed food item you buy is hardly a bargain. Not only are you getting very little real food, as there are so many fillers and additives tossed in, you’re also getting very little in terms of healthy nutrition.
This is important, as your body is not designed to process and thrive on a base of disease causing ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oil.
(NaturalNews) Why are genetically modified organisms (GMOs) a serious threat to humanity and the environment? The reasons span the realms of science, social justice, economics and the environment, and once you understand this, you’ll readily understand why so many humanitarians, environmentalists, responsible scientists and social justice advocates are strongly opposed to GMOs. There’s no wasting time here. People must know. You may be aware of some of the following tricks, lies, schemes and plots to keep people malnourished and in need of constant medical attention, but then again, you may not. The biggest lies in this world are the ones more likely to be believed, and “Big Food” has that kind of money to spend on YOU, so here we go:
“For added freshness” and “as a preservative” — These preservatives kill fungus and mutate human cells into cancer, yet these slogans are seen on bread all over the world and on jar labels for just about everything.

(NaturalNews) Although there is a popular perception that lazy people are more likely to eat convenient but unhealthy foods, a study conducted by researchers from the University of California-Los Angeles and published in the journal Physiology and Behavior on April 10 suggests that it may be the other way around: A diet high in processed, sugary foods may actually make people lazier.
