It’s well-established that healthy fats such as animal-based omega-3s — especially DHA — are vitally important for your brain health, but other nutrients such as vitamins are also necessary for cognition and the prevention of neurological disease and mental disorders.
Psychiatry typically relies on drugs as a first line of treatment, but even more severe psychiatric problems have been shown to benefit greatly from nutritional interventions.
One nutritional deficiency in particular that has the potential to wreak havoc on your psyche is niacin (vitamin B3). Continue reading →
I am frankly shocked this information is not making front page news right now. Monsanto will do anything to bury this story… and as of right now, it’s working. Not a single mainstream media outlet has covered this appalling new report that shows millions of people being poisoned by a chemical that does not belong in our food. This chemical is ending up in processed foods like Cheerios, Ritz Crackers, and Oreos and being consumed by humans across the world. The health of millions of people is on the line and this news must go mainstream! That’s why I’m calling on every single one of you who reads this post to share this breaking story now. The only way this injustice will be corrected is if enough of us stand up and demand that something be done to stop the poisoning of our food supply.
Share this shocking new report with everyone you know….
A FDA-registered food safety laboratory tested iconic American food for residues of the weed killer glyphosate (aka Monsanto’s Roundup) and found ALARMING amounts.Continue reading →
“A new study has shown for the first time how limonoids, natural compounds present in lemons and other citrus fruit, impede both ER+ and ER- breast cancer cell growth. This sheds new light on the importance of citrus fruit for breast cancer prevention and supports past studies which showed fruit consumption may lower breast cancer risk.(1)”
All kinds of people are saying that the entire lemon should be used with nothing wasted. Not only for the obvious health benefits but also for the amazing taste!
Simple, take an ORGANIC lemon, wash it, and then put it in the freezer. Once it is frozen you get whatever is necessary to grate or shred the whole lemon without even peeling it first. Or you can make lemon cubes! To do this, simply blend the lemon peel and all and pour it into an ice cube tray.
Then sprinkle it on your salad, ice cream, soup, cereals, noodles, spaghetti sauce, or whatever. No holds barred. What you will experience is that whatever you sprinkle it on will take on a taste you may never have experienced before. Continue reading →
Research shows that the food you eat can have a profound effect on your mental health. So, regardless of your mental health problems, the importance of addressing your diet simply cannot be overstated.
In a very real sense, you have two brains — one in your head, and one in your gut. Both are created from the same tissue during fetal development, and they’re connected via your vagus nerve, the tenth cranial nerve that runs from your brain stem to your abdomen. It is now well established that the vagus nerve is the primary route your gut bacteria use to transmit information to your brain, which helps explain why mental health appears to be so intricately connected to your gut microbiome 1 — the bacteria and other microbes living in your gut. NaturalNews) The mainstream media can’t figure out why it keeps losing readers and viewers. Maybe it’s because they keep calling health-conscious consumers “whackos” and “kooks.” In their latest example of alienating readers, mainstream media outlets like USA Today, Washington Post, Forbes.com and the New York Times have resorted to condemning all health-conscious consumers as nut jobs and kooks and conspiracy theorists… all because they want to avoid fluoride, pesticides, toxic heavy metals or GMOs. Three problems with the US food supply that is making food a source of disease rather than optimal health include: the way our food is raised; the way it’s processed; and the routine use of hazardous drugs and chemicals.
The United States is one of the few countries in the world that produces and processes food in a way that defies both science and common sense.
As noted in the featured TED lecture, 86 percent of every dollar you spend at the grocery store goes toward paying for processing and marketing of the food. A mere 14 percent goes to the farmer that actually grows the food ingredients in question.
This alone should tell you that that inexpensive processed food item you buy is hardly a bargain. Not only are you getting very little real food, as there are so many fillers and additives tossed in, you’re also getting very little in terms of healthy nutrition.
This is important, as your body is not designed to process and thrive on a base of disease causing ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oil.
(NaturalNews) Several diets compete for followers in the holistic medicine world. There are devotees of vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, primal, raw primal, fruitarians and Weston Price. The Paleo and Weston Price Diet are two popular and important real food movements that share primary values, but also diverge in significant areas. Both are arguably far superior to the SAD or standard American diet followed by most Americans. Continue reading →

(NaturalNews) Although there is a popular perception that lazy people are more likely to eat convenient but unhealthy foods, a study conducted by researchers from the University of California-Los Angeles and published in the journal Physiology and Behavior on April 10 suggests that it may be the other way around: A diet high in processed, sugary foods may actually make people lazier.
